Görlitz is the seat of the R. Schubert Management & Advisory consultancy house. The city, which is nearly one thousand years old, is an architectural jewel and conveys an impressive feel of times past with its medieval merchant houses and the magnificent properties of the ‘Gründerzeit’ (period (1871 – 1873) when many industrial firms were founded in Germany). Since then, situated at the crossroads of two well-known business streets (Via Regia and Salzstrasse), the sales industry in the city has had a long tradition. However, the first ‘technology boom’ in the years of the ‘Gründerzeit’ shaped the economic picture for decades. At the beginning of the 20th century Görlitz was an aesthetic focal point or a centre of machine manufacture. With the end of the Second World War the city was divided contrary to the arrangements made by the victorious powers and sank, in the socialist era, into insignificance. The reunification led to the substance of the old-buildings being saved, and the lack of jobs and trainee positions led to the youth of the city leaving. Today the city is attempting to redefine itself. Supporters of the city are hoping that creative ideas will lead to an economic revival and to strong support for the remaining middle-class. Visit Görlitz and be fascinated by the beauty of the city, the tradition, the humanist feel and the openness of its inhabitants. We are happy to advise you on settling in the region.
